GeoPeeker

I recall when I set up a web design agency many moons ago we used to have an array of terminals set in different resolutions and with different browsers to test our new websites. If we wanted to know how a site would look in a different Country though, we used to contact friends around the Globe for a little help.

Now though, just like you can check your SERPS on regional versions of Google, in fact when you open www.geopeeker.com the home page has no more content than Google has! But enter any domain in the box and GeoPeeker churns away to show you how your site looks in an array of countries including Sydney Australia, Singapore, Ireland, Virginia USA, San Jose, California and Sao Paulo, Brazil.

The application can of course show if there are any differences in the way your site appears across the world and is a very useful tool if you want to know if its down to just you or for everyone. You can also check that the DNS is propagating correctly, troubleshooting CDN and cache issues and more.

In my own experiment I was surprised to find that our AdSence promotion doesn’t appear on the site in Sao Paulo! Am I concerned… err not really, but in any event it is certainly interesting.

So, give it a go….
